MonkeyKat Books is an independent bookshop located in Sanford, North Carolina, opened in 2024 by Katheryn Rice. Kat grew up in Sanford, and after 20 years away is happy to be back and to bring MonkeyKat to life in this community. You'll find an extensive and exciting selection of new books including fiction, non-fiction, children’s, local interests, and the arts. And this is more than a bookshop, it is your place to hang. You are encouraged to read, connect, and create while perusing the shelves, browsing the gifts, and enjoying a cup of tea. Being a third place is the point. Here you are not at work and not at home, you are somewhere to explore your own creative side, to connect with others, or just to disconnect from the outside stressors of the world.
